Ultimate Easy Go-To Granola Bar Recipe

This is our tried and true homemade granola bar recipe. You can change it up with different nuts and dried fruits. We make this at least once a week. Clean ingredients and gluten free, you can feel good about feeding this to your family.

A dish of homemade granola bars

1 1/2 cups rolled oats

3/4 cups chopped raw almonds/cashews

1/4 cup creamy peanut or almond butter

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

2/3 cup pitted chopped dates

1/3 cup dried fruit (raisins, dried cranberries, apricots, dried cherries)

1/4 cup seeds (mix of chia, flax, and pepitas is my favorite)

1 Tble coconut oil

Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350. Finely chop nuts- feel free to use a food processor. Bake oat and nut mixture for 10 minutes in 8x8 pan, until lightly toasted, then set aside.

In food processor, mix dates and about half of the oat/nut mixture til everything is finely chopped. Mix back into pan.

On stove, warm maple syrup and peanut butter mixture for 5 minutes on low. In pan, add in dried fruit, seeds, salt and warmed maple syrup/nut butter. Mix thoroughly, if too dry add a small amount of extra peanut butter or maple syrup. Press into pan and pack down evenly. Let cool. Store in fridge or cut and keep in freezer.

Most of the time, I double the recipe and make it in a 9x13 cake pan, and my kids will go through that in a week.

We buy most of our real food staples from Azure Standard. Azure is like a food coop, in that we get a group order once a month. I have found they have the best prices on bulk organic groceries, like nuts, organic flour, and dried fruit, as well as dish soap, laundry detergent and more. Our honey and maple syrup are local (honey is at the office). You can shop here https://www.azurestandard.com/?a_aid=ce5ee4cb67 and select the pickup location as "Donna's Storage Port Huron" or find a spot near you!
